Huntingdon’s annual fireworks display will dazzle in the night sky over the borough on Thursday, July 3. Find the perfect spot to sit and enjoy the show. Not sure where to go or what to do before they begin? Don’t worry, there’s plenty happening in Huntingdon to keep you entertained!

The 40th annual Car, Truck and Bike Cruise will be held in Downtown Huntingdon on Thursday, July 3. Arrive in downtown Huntingdon around 5PM to enjoy dinner at one of the incredible local restaurants. After your meal, take a walk down Washington Street, where all the cars, trucks and bikes will be parked by 6:30PM. Then head to Bryan Park for live music where Nick Miller performs from 6 to 8, followed by Harley Rae from 8 to 9:00. The event is free and family-friendly.

MCS Bank is hosting their annual Fireworks Festival on Thursday, July 3 from 4 to 9PM in Milroy. Enjoy live music, food from 7 local vendors, inflatable obstacle courses, axe throwing, and the grand fireworks finale! Be sure to bring your lawn chair!

The Armagh Township Fireworks will light up the night sky on Thursday, July 3 around 9:20PM, with weather permitting. The best viewing areas include Commerce Drive and surrounding parking lots.

Family Fishing Days at Whipple Dam State Park are on the following dates: June 14, July 4 and 12 at 10AM. Join the park staff for a morning of fishing. Poles and bait will be provided. No fishing license is required during this program. Meet at the fishing pier.

Presented by the East Waterford Presbyterian Church, the East Waterford Independence Day Celebration will be held on Friday, July 4. This is the area’s largest parade. Registration is from 1:30-2:30PM. The parade will step off at 3:00. No cost to participate. Prize money and awards to all winners. Categories to register in include patriotic, religious, walking/marching, vehicle, comical, emergency response, non-profit organization, horse and other animals. All area businesses and candidates, queens, civic groups/organizations are welcome to be in the parade, too!

The City of Harrisburg announced it would not be hosting its annual fireworks show at Riverfront Park this year due to security concerns over recent years. However, the July 4th Food Truck Festival will still be held from Noon to 7PM.

The event will feature 40 food trucks, live music, a wine/beer garden, roller skating rink, Western & Soul line dancing, an American music icon costume contest, a petting zoo featuring mini highland cows and goats, an inflatable obstacle course, free kids activities and more. Cheer on the Harrisburg Senators baseball team after the event and enjoy a post-game fireworks display at the stadium.

The Central PA 4th Fest is a 4th of July festival that is full of fun! Held annually in State College, it’s fun for the whole family, featuring events for fall! There’s the firecracker 4k, a festive parade and a car show followed by a spectacular fireworks show! Learn more here!

The Juniata County Historical Society will also display their collection of bags and moccasins from Plains Tribes spanning 1880-1900.

The Steph Foltz Benefit Tournament will be held Saturday, July 26 in Kish Park, beginning at 8AM. This benefit will be a 7-3 coed tournament held for Steph Foltz, who is currently in the beginning stages of breast cancer. Juniata Valley Winery’s Friday Night Music Series continues on Friday, August 8. Doors will open at 5PM, music is from 7-10PM. This week’s featured band is Hillbilly Diesel, performing classic and modern rock. The food vendor of the week is Cumberland Gap BBQ. Bring your lawn chair and a friend! $10 cover charge for adults. Racing Bingo will be held on Saturday, August 9 at the East Waterford Fire Company. Doors and the kitchen open at Noon. Bingo games get underway at 1PM. Tickets cost $25. Bingo prizes will be racing themed. Rip tickets and 50/50 sold throughout.

Mark your calendars! The 50th anniversary of the Burnham Fire Company is set for August 15 and 16. To celebrate the 50th, there will be a few changes and most of your old favorites. Lots of prizes, good food, rip tickets and lots of fun!

The biggest change is the Raffle Ticket. Hope you like Cash…. Lots of Cash…the grand prize is $10,000! Ticket price will stay the same, $10 per chance.

The second change is they will be accepting credit/debit cards online and in person for Raffle Tickets. All other tickets must be purchased in person. Food and games will still be cash only. The 6th annual Dewey Hill Benefit will be held on Saturday, August 16. Come on out for a fun day, supporting a great local resident, Rhoda Trevitz.

There will be a cornhole tournament. Registration is from 11AM to 12:30PM. Bags will fly at 1PM. Partners are randomly drawn. Boards provided. You may bring your own bags if desired. The cost to participate is $10. (50% of proceeds go to the benefactor)

A benefit meal will be served. Meal will be served at Noon and costs a $15 donation. (100% of proceeds go to the benefactor) The meal will include BBQ Chicken, pulled pork, mac and cheese, french fries, baked beans, cole slaw and a drink. Every meal ticket will be entered into a drawing for a $100 Bass Pro gift card.

There will also be a Chinese Auction and raffles throughout the day. You must be present to win.

Rhoda has had 2 devastating events happen to her within just a few short months. First, she lost everything in a house fire and secondly, she lost her husband. Let’s raise money to help Rhoda with her financial burden and help celebrate the life of her beloved Buck. Rhoda is a kind, strong, hard working woman who deserves a little help from her community. Come on out to Greenwood Furnace State Park for a Night Sky Watch on Saturday, August 16 at 7:30PM. Join Bill Arden from the Central PA Observers club at the Park office for a telescope clinic and introductory presentation on astronomy followed by an outdoor night sky tour with an electronic telescope. If you have a telescope or binoculars, they’ll help you set them up to use.

Old-Fashioned Skills Day at Greenwood Furnace State Park is Saturday, August 16 from 10AM to 2PM. Learn about skills from the past through demonstrations and hands-on activities including atlatl, stone sling, primitive bow making, Native American tools and artifacts, flintknapping and blacksmithing.

The Borough of Juniata Terrace is hosting their 100 Year Celebration on Saturday, August 16. Get ready for a day of making memories and enjoying a wide range of fun-filled activities. You can expect kids crafts and family games, craft vendors and other booths, a cornhole tournament, great food from local businesses like Twin Kiss and Danny’s BBQ and so much more! Rain Date is Saturday, August 23.

The Remembering Isaiah Ride will be held September 13. Registration is from 9 to 11AM in the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet side parking lot. Kickstands up at Noon! All street legal vehicles are welcome. The cost is $25 per operator/driver and $5 per passenger. There will also be a 50/50, Chinese Auction and Bike Show ($1 per vote; prizes for the top 3) All proceeds go to Camp Manatawny.
