Playing Poe is harder than it looks, though, especially when your mustache keeps falling off, the teenage grand-daughter of the house is lusting after you, and Poe’s arch-nemesis, Rufus Griswold, just happens to be dropping by to settle old scores. A freewheeling, door-slamming farce with a touch of the macabre.

The Roger Snyder Memorial Race is set for Saturday, March 29 at Basom Park in Richfield. This race is the perfect event for the first time runner, as well as offering challenging course offerings for the experienced racer looking to set a PR.

This year they are offering a 5K Walk and Run, 10k Run, Half Marathon, and Kids Run. The course runs through the beautiful countryside in Richfield and is great for families and team runners as well.

JE Bowen AMVETS Post 122 (Thompsontown) Annual Handicap Trout Derby will be held Saturday, April 19 from 9-11AM. This derby is open to all ages. Trophies will be presented after the final weights have been collected.

The Port Royal Lions Club is hosting the 2nd annual John H. Sheaffer Memorial Trout Derby on Saturday, April 19. Registration will begin at 7AM and the derby will run from 8AM to Noon.

Juniata County Fire Police is having an Advanced Fire Police Training Class at Thompsontown Fire Company on April 26 and 27 from 8AM to 5PM with an hour for lunch which will be provided. The Fighting Against Cancer as a Community Vendor Event will be held on Saturday, May 3 from 9AM to 3PM at Rec Park. Join a local Relay 4 Life Team as they host their first year vendor event! Stuart’s mind may not be totally on the bank job, however, when he meets Betty. However, when Stuart finds out that Betty is about to graduate from an academy on the very night they plan to rob the bank, the perfect alibi presents itself – why not go to the graduation, be seen there, sneak out and rob the bank. Perfect, thinks Little Pat, Stuart’s wise-cracking sidekick. Unfortunately for the two would-be crooks the graduation is at a police academy. Throw in a chief of police, a suspicious fiancé and a half-pint brat with an “Al Capone do-it-yourself tool kit,” and nobody knows what will happen next. In the spirit of Frank Capra, this tale of a bank heist and three retired nannies has all the classic comedy twists and surprises fit for any audiences.
