The United Way of Mifflin-Juniata is hosting A Night at the Races on Saturday, January 25 with Acclaim Productions-Jason Christopher at the Kish Innovation Center. Dinner will begin at 6PM and the race start at 7. Grab some friends and join the fun!

Comedy Night with Earl David Reed will be held at the Granville Fire Company on January 25 from 5 to 11PM. Tickets are $30 and must be purchased in advance, as seats are limited. A Benefit Painting Party will be held on Saturday, January 25 from 1 to 3PM at the Decatur Fireman’s Cookhouse. No art skills are needed as you’ll follow fun step-by-step instructions to create a winter scene with flag or snowman canvas. All supplies are provided and included in your cost is $35. Proceeds will benefit the 148th Field Hospital & Venture Crew Civil War Re-enactment Group. There will also be door prizes, raffles, snacks and drinks. Juniata Valley Council is hosting the Klondike Derby on Saturday, January 25 at 8AM at Seven Mountains Scout Camp. Patrols pull a customized sled around the camp to compete in various scout skills challenges. A patrol’s performance at each event will be scored for their level of knowledge or accomplishment and for teamwork. All are welcome and out of council units may participate.

Crossview Missional Church will hold its 9th annual Wild Game Meal on Saturday, January 25. Doors open at 4PM and the covered dish meal begins at 5PM.

The keynote speaker is Caz Russell of Milton, Pennsylvania. Russell has hunted from the Bering Sea to Saskatchewan and Maine to Texas. He enjoys hunting, training dogs and carving decoys. He utilizes life’s lessons and experiences to share his love for Christ. Russell will share the story of his elk hunt and display his elk European mount at the dinner. Russell uses this story to relate to his walk and friendship with Jesus.

The Mifflin Juniata United Way’s Walk for Warmth is set for Saturday, February 8 at Kish Park and Walker Township Park. Registration is at 9:30AM; the open ceremony is at 10AM.

The Walk for Warmth is a Walk-a-Thon to raise money for the Mifflin-Juniata Energy Bank. Children and dogs are welcome to join the fun! Walk for Warm enables the Energy Bank to be responsive to meeting the needs of our most vulnerable residents. Often, individuals are forced to make decisions about paying rent on time or paying heating coasts. Donations will allow Energy Bank recipients to access funds to assist with either of these issues.

Everyone can enjoy a day of fun and exercise and fellowship for a worthy cause. Registration and information is available at the United Way office or online at mjunitedway.org. Warm a heart, heat a home!
