Take a leisurely Plant Walk with Forestry Extension Educator, Cathryn Pugh, to learn about common plants in Whipple Dam State Park on Thursday, March 27 from 2:30 to 4PM and 5:30 to 7PM. Helping Hands of Juniata County is hosting their 2nd annual Bake & Soup Sale on Saturday, March 29 from 8AM to Noon or until sold out. This sale is taking place at not one, two locations: the Walker Township Park Pavilion and Schlegel’s Store.

The Roger Snyder Memorial Race is set for Saturday, March 29 at Basom Park in Richfield. This race is the perfect event for the first time runner, as well as offering challenging course offerings for the experienced racer looking to set a PR.

This year they are offering a 5K Walk and Run, 10k Run, Half Marathon, and Kids Run. The course runs through the beautiful countryside in Richfield and is great for families and team runners as well.

There is a fun kids’ run before the adult race, which helps set the theme of “Leaving footprints for our future.” The half marathon will begin at 8AM, Kids’ Run at 8:45, and the 5k and 10K will begin at 9. A Spring Fling Craft and Vendor Show will be held in the brand new Granville Fire Company Event Center on Saturday, May 3 from 10AM to 3PM. The Granville Fire Company is hosting the Amanda J. Carolus Memorial Fishing Derby on Saturday, May 3 at Malta Park. Registration is 8 to 9AM. There is NO registration fee. Pine Glen Alliance Church will be holding their monthly Gym Night, for children 6-12 years old on Wednesday, May 7 from 6-8PM in the gym. This event will include: basketball, volleyball, soccer, and large board Tic Tac Toe, Badminton, jump rope, Bingo and corn hole competitions. Stuart’s mind may not be totally on the bank job, however, when he meets Betty. However, when Stuart finds out that Betty is about to graduate from an academy on the very night they plan to rob the bank, the perfect alibi presents itself – why not go to the graduation, be seen there, sneak out and rob the bank. Perfect, thinks Little Pat, Stuart’s wise-cracking sidekick. Unfortunately for the two would-be crooks the graduation is at a police academy. Throw in a chief of police, a suspicious fiancé and a half-pint brat with an “Al Capone do-it-yourself tool kit,” and nobody knows what will happen next. In the spirit of Frank Capra, this tale of a bank heist and three retired nannies has all the classic comedy twists and surprises fit for any audiences.

Mifflintown Borough Council presents National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5, beginning at 5PM at Myers Park. Join them to promote strong community policing partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie, safe neighborhoods and a pleasant place to live and work.
