A Ham Loaf Dinner Fundraiser will be held on Friday, February 21 from 5 to 8PM at the McAlisterville Fire Hall. So when a wealthy dowager commissions him to write her a poem for the vast sum of one hundred dollars, he leaps at the chance. Only problem: the man who shows up to write the poem isn’t Poe, he’s Poe’s mailman, and he’s on a quest to woo the dowager’s spinster niece. Playing Poe is harder than it looks, though, especially when your mustache keeps falling off, the teenage grand-daughter of the house is lusting after you, and Poe’s arch-nemesis, Rufus Griswold, just happens to be dropping by to settle old scores. A freewheeling, door-slamming farce with a touch of the macabre.

Come on out Saturday, April 26 from Noon to 5PM for the first Mifflin county train show at the Reedsville Youth Park. Whether you are buying or selling, they offer a wonderful safe and fun environment for you!

They’ll have food & drink at the concession stand, along with their own displays! Toys, model trains and diecast models are welcome. Vendor set up is April 25th from Noon to 5PM.

This was originally planned to be a car and train show/SwapMeet however, due to the car meet hosts health issues, they’ve had to cancel and convert to doing a train show only.

Juniata County Fire Police is having an Advanced Fire Police Training Class at Thompsontown Fire Company on April 26 and 27 from 8AM to 5PM with an hour for lunch which will be provided. If interested, please register at [email protected] by April 19. This class is open to any fire department personnel, ages 18 and over. This class is being offered through HACC.

The Stomping Cancer Away Vendor Event will be held on Saturday, May 3 from 9AM to 3PM at Rec Park. Join a local Relay 4 Life Team as they host their first year vendor event! There will be vendors, food trucks, emergency vehicles for the kids as well as lots of games, a DJ, small petting zoo, raffle baskets and more!

The festival is taking place May 9-11. The heart of the event, expo area, check-in, etc., is moving back into Susquehannock Campground! Your registration gets you access to demos, skills clinics, group rides, and good times. This is a non-profit event. Your registration directly supports the Allegrippis Trail System. The 3rd annual Benefit Softball Tournament will be held on Saturday, May 17, starting at 8AM. All proceeds go to the Trooper Rougeau Jr. Benefit Fund. There will be a Chinese Auction. Helping Hands of Juniata County is hosting Special Needs Community Day on Saturday, May 17 from 10AM to 2PM in Walker Park. There will be outdoor activities, food and games, a family meet and greet and time to learn about local agencies.

This event is Juniata County presents a wonderful opportunity for families with disabilities to come together in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. It is designed to not only provide a few hours of fun, but also to offer valuable resources that can assist families in navigating the complexities of care and support for individuals with disabilities. By bringing together local agencies and organizations, the event allows families to make important connections that could lead to further support in areas such as healthcare, educations and community services.

Lillie Scones is a sweet retired nanny who runs a boarding house with one resident and “a cat the size of the Louisiana Purchase.” Her two friends, Jocelyn and Carmella, help to pass the time by listening to music and gossiping. Then Stuart, an old charge of hers, rents a room. Lillie is tickled to have him around again, not knowing he is planning on robbing the bank on the corner. Stuart’s mind may not be totally on the bank job, however, when he meets Betty. However, when Stuart finds out that Betty is about to graduate from an academy on the very night they plan to rob the bank, the perfect alibi presents itself – why not go to the graduation, be seen there, sneak out and rob the bank. Perfect, thinks Little Pat, Stuart’s wise-cracking sidekick. Unfortunately for the two would-be crooks the graduation is at a police academy. Throw in a chief of police, a suspicious fiancé and a half-pint brat with an “Al Capone do-it-yourself tool kit,” and nobody knows what will happen next. In the spirit of Frank Capra, this tale of a bank heist and three retired nannies has all the classic comedy twists and surprises fit for any audiences.
