NEW J CO NON-PROFIT COLLECTING VALENTINE’S DAY CARDS

There’s a new non-profit organization in the area. Say hello to Juniata County Helping Hands!

Aleiha Rapp founded the group. “I have always been passionate about helping others and being involved in the community,” she says. “While I know there are some organizations and or programs around that help those in need, I have also been seeing the needs of those who might have been missed.”

Aleiha says her goal is to help tie up the loose ends, help those that are missed by other organizations.

“Our second goal is that we also want to raise more awareness of other programs around the county and surrounding area,” saying “there are so many resources out there to be used that others have no clue about.” Aleiha says she hopes to make JCHH a not only a resource itself but a ‘hub’ that guides others to other resources that may be available.

The group’s first project is a Valentine’s card collection. “We have volunteers that will distribute them the week of Valentine’s Day to various nursing homes in the county, such as Brookline Retirement Village, Magnolia Personal Assisted Living, North Ridge Center PC, Locust Grove Retirement Home, Richfield Health Care and for anyone that the community may feel would benefit someone, ” she said.

The cards can be store-bought or homemade, as long as they come with a whole lot of love!

Valentines can dropped off at 3 different locations until February 10th:
– Turbett Back 40 in Port Royal along Rt. 75
– McLaughin Pharmacy in Mifflintown
– Sal’s OIP in McAlisterville along Rt. 35
