MIFFLIN COUNTY LAX PLAYER SELECTED TO REPRESENT U.S.A. OVERSEAS

What an honor! And how exciting!

Mifflin County junior lacrosse player Mara Gallo has been selected to join 23 other student-athletes from the United States to play lacrosse in Barcelona, Spain!

“I nominated Mara because of her dedication and commitment to achieving excellence in skill development, personal growth, team development, leadership on and off the field, high academic achievement in the classroom and elite personal character,” said Huskies’ head coach Theresa Lamont.

The program is sponsored by Beyond Sports. In addition to competing against and learning from elite lacrosse players and coaches, Mara will also participate in leadership development workshops and a community service learning activity.

Mara has been with the Mifflin County LAX program since 2020, getting her start as a manager for two seasons before debuting as a varsity midfielder as a freshman!  Coach Lamont says Mara is “a stellar student-athlete and a phenomenal young lady.”

Mara is the daughter of Hillary Worley and Josh Pennepacker and the granddaughter of Tim and Deb Worley.

Mara will be overseas from July 30th through August 7th but will be doing some fundraising for her trip over the next few months. Merf Radio will be helping to spread the word about any and all of her fundraising efforts so keep an ear – and eye – out!
