FESTIVAL OF ICE IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER, SCULPTURE SPONSORSHIPS STILL AVAILABLE

The Festival of Ice is coming!

The evenings of December 5 and 6, downtown Lewistown will turn into a Winter Wonderland, wiith vendors, all kinds of activities, including hay wagon rides, and live music .

Admission is free and so is parking in Downtown Lewistown.

Christmas Around the World is this year’s theme. Organizers are encouraging ice sponsors to consider a landmark from a favorite vacation, or dream vacation. Designs are reserved on a first come first served asis.

“Many of the designs are new and they need to be approved by the ice carvers,” explains Juniata River Valley Visitor’s Buureau director Jenny Landis, “so the sooner we know what your idea is, the better chance it has to be carved.”

Ice sculptures range from $350 to $2,250. Additional benefits vary according to the level of sponsorship.

The festival’s theme will be evident in more than just the ice sculptures. The Merry Mannequin creators are encouraged to follow the theme this year, and the Crazy Parade is taking on a royal tone. This unusual kick off to the annual event is usually crazy enough, but this year it’s taking a cue from England’s love of all things royal. The Royal Crazy Parade will start at 6 p.m. sharp from Lewistown Borough Hall on Third Street. Costumes are always encouraged and this year the option of crowns, fancy hats, and fascinators are also a possibility.
