EAST JUNIATA ALUM TAKES STAR ROLE IN SUSQUEHANNA UNIVERSITY PLAY

Isaac Austin (right as Judas, Evan Finkbeiner as Jesus -photo by Kevin Crowe) learned to act while at East Junniata High School, performing in five plays during his time as a Tiger. He’s continued to hone his craft while at Susquehanna University.

Susquehanna University is staging Jesus Christ Superstar just after the 50th anniversary of it’s creation but adding a twist of its own. JCS is often designed for the stage in some variation of modern dress despite the first century setting. “We’re taking it a step further and imagining,” says director Erik Viker, “what if the Roman empire never fell, Jesus was born in 1990, and the events of the musical are happening right now.”

Isaac took a few minutes from his busy school and rehearsal schedule to fill us in on his life and the play. Listen to our exclusive interview with Isaac Austin here:

You can see Isaac perform live at Susquehanna November 14-17. Tickets and more information on dates and showtimes for SU’s telling of Jesus Christ Superstar can be found by clicking here.
