Geisinger Lewistown Hospital recently honored extraordinary nurses and non-licensed nursing team members, with the DAISY and Sunflower Awards. Emily Wagner, R.N., on 6B, received the DAISY Award and Lydia Brown, patient care assistant on 6B, received the Sunflower Award!
“On behalf of all of us at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital, we want to say thank you for the care and compassion Emily and Lydia give our patients every day,” said Stacey Osborne, DNP, vice president and chief nursing officer for the hospital. “They’re both very special nurses and I want to honor them for all that you do to care for our patients and communities.”
The DAISY Award is a recognition program to celebrate and recognize nurses by collecting nominations from patients, families and coworkers. It’s administered to thank nurses for the care and kindness they provide.
“Emily is very caring and compassionate,” said the nominator, a spouse of a patient. “She took time to sit with us and explain what we couldn’t understand. Emily checked in on us continually and made sure we had what we needed. She has a great sense of humor and a heart of gold and made us feel welcomed and like we were at home. We will forever be grateful for the care she provided to my husband.”
The Sunflower Award is a recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care our non-licensed nursing team members provide to our patients, families and colleagues.
“Lydia is the perfect example of a respectful, caring and thorough coworker,” said Danielle Fisher, an inpatient R.N. at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. “She comes to work every day with a smile on her face and a positive attitude. Lydia is in constant communication with the nurses and staff, helping to make the flow of the unit smooth. Her patients always comment on the excellent care she provides with respect and dignity.”
Congratulations and keep up the great work!
