Cedar Cliff shut out the Mifflin County field hockey team, 3-0. Same score as Central Dauphin beat the Huskies’ volleyball team, 3-0. Juniata’s volleyball team lost to Northern Dauphin, 3-1. A big night in defeat for Indians’ junior Jordan Hockenberry, as she had a earned-high 19 digs on the night. And the Mifflin County golf team went 1-4 yesterday, beating Cedar Cliff but losing to Cumberland Valley, Mechanicsburg, Carlisle and Red Land. Kolbi Knode shot a season-low career-best 86 for the Huskies.

The Pirates earned a 6-4 win out in San Francisco last night. The Phillies, meanwhile, lost at home to Atlanta, 7-2, as Fightin’s starter Aaron Nola allowed four earned in the first two innings to the Braves. He settled down, throwing four scoreless after that but the damage was done.

And, in the NFL’s final games of Week One, New Orleans came back to beat Houston, 30-28, thanks to a 58-yard field goal as time expired. Also last night, Oakland took care of Denver, 24-15.
