Mount Union’s baseball team will face Tyrone in Thursday’s semifinal round of the District VI AAA playoffs. The Trojans defeated Ligonier Valley, 9-2, in opening round action yesterday. Philipsburg-Osceola, meanwhile, bounced the Mount Union softball team from the postseason with yesterday’s 6-5 quarterfinal round win over the Trojans.
The Phillies scored once in the top of the ninth to tie it and once in the 10th to take a lead they’d keep. Fightin’s over the Cubs, 5-4, in extras last night. The Pirates were off yesterday. They’ll host Colorado this evening.
And Golden State is into the NBA Finals again, the team’s fifth straight appearance, after sweeping Portland with last night’s 119-117 victory. Five is the most consecutive appearances for a team since the 1966 Boston Celtics.
