Three falls and four forfeit wins helped the Mifflin County wrestlers defeat St. Mary’s last evening. The Huskies won 13 of the night’s 14 matches to take a 62-3 victory.
Tonight, the third-ranked North Carolina State wrestlers take on #7 Virginia Tech. Mifflin County alums Hayden and Trent Hidlay star for the Wolfpack, combining for a 45-3 record this season.
Yesterday, the National Wrestling Coaches Association released its first Mid-Major Top 20 poll of the season. Lehigh is #1. Army West Point,, featuring Mifflin County alum Noah Stewart is fifth. Stewart is ranked 18th nationally at 184 pounds. Nearby Lock Haven University is #17. The Bald Eagles’ roster has a couple of former area stars: Trey Hartsock of Mifflin County and Collin Glorisoso of Huntingdon.
It’s All-Star weekend in the NBA. The celebrity game takes place tonight, followed by the Rising Stars contest tomorrow. Sunday night is the all-star game itself, featuring 76er’s stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.
The Pirates signed some speed in outfielder Jarrod Dyson yesterday. Dyson, a 35-year-old outfielder, swiped 30 bags for Arizona last season.
And Nebraska knocked off the Penn State women’s basketball team last night, 75-58.
