Atlanta took both ends of yesterday’s doubleheader with the Phillies, 5-2 and 8-0. Detroit beat the Pirates, 2-1.

 

One day after the Mid-Atlantic Conference announced it would not hold a football season this fall, ESPN is reporting that the Power 5 Conferences, including the Big Ten, met yesterday to discuss the same fate for its programs. No decision either way  has been announced just yet.

 

The Flyers face Montreal in the first round of the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs. The Canadiens ousted Pittsburgh late last week. The Philly-Montreal series starts on Wednesday.

 

Portland beat the Sixers, 124-121, in an NBA seeding game yesterday. Philly star Joel Embiid left the game with an ankle injury, one day after the team announced teammate Ben Simmons will have knee surgery and is out indefinitely.

 

Kevin Harvick won NASCAR’s Cup Series race AT Michigan Internationally while, locally at Pot Royal Speedway, Garrett Bard won 305’s, Brent Marks took 410’s and Greg Satterlee won Late Models.

 

And Collin Morikawa shot a final round 64 to win the  PGA Championship, a two-stroke victory over Paul Casey and Dustin Johnson.
