Whether discarded intentionally, or blown from trashcans, dumpsters, or cars, every community has pockets of unsightly trash. The 2009 National Visible Litter Study estimates litter clean-up costs the U.S. more than $11.5 billion each year. Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful has a program for local residents, organizations, and civic groups to be part of the solution. The statewide program is an opportunity to adopt and care for municipal roads, parks, neighborhood blocks, greenways, waterways and trails. Keep PA Beautiful partners with local municipalities to help mitigate the costs by encouraging local residents to take ownership of their communities. For more information about adopting a municipal road, park, or neighborhood block, call 877-772-3673, extension 104, or visit Keeppabeautiful.org and choose “Keep It.”
