Today is “Check the Chip Day.” Microchips greatly increase the chances that pets will be reuinted with their families if they are lost or stolen. “Check the Chip Day” is held every August 15th. It was created by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). Pet owners are reminded to make an appointment with your veterinarian for microchipping, then make sure the chip is immediately registered. Also, make sure your already-microchipped pet’s registration information in the manufacturer’s database is up-to-date. More information can be found at: https://www.avma.org/Events/pethealth/Pages/Check-the-Chip-Day.aspx.
