In their yearly partnership with Pennsylvania’s Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP), Mifflin-Juniata Regional Services will be providing low-income seniors with vouchers for fresh, nutritious, unprepared, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs from approved farmers’ in Pennsylvania. Qualifying senior citizens will receive a list of participating farmers and farmers’ markets when they receive their checks. Voucher distribution will be on Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the following locations: Moose Family Center, Country Crossroads Senior Center, Milroy Senior Center, Four Seasons Senior Center, and McAlisterville Senior Center.
Qualifying seniors must be 60 years old or older by December 31, 2019. Proof of Age is required. The following Household Income Guidelines are also in place: 1 person – $23,107 ; 2 people – $31,284 ; 3 people – $39,461 ; 4 people – $47,638 ; 5 people – $55,815 ; 6 people – $63,992.
Each eligible senior receives four (4) $5.00 checks, for a total benefit of $20.00, once during the program year. Vouchers are redeemable through November 30, 2019. Seniors living in nursing home facilities, convents, or residential facilities where meals are provided will not be eligible.
If you are picking up someone else’s checks for them, you must have a proxy form completed and signed in advance by the person for whom you are picking up the vouchers.
