The Snyder County Conservation District (SCCD), along with AgChoice Farm Credit, Hoover Tractor, Kantz & Steiniger Committee, Mifflinburg Bank & Trust, Perdue AgriBusiness, RHP Law Group LLC, Seed Consultants, Inc. and Sunbury Motor Company, will host an agricultural winter meeting on Friday, February 15 at Christ Community United Methodist Church near Selinsgrove. Doors will open at 8:30AM and the meeting is scheduled for 9AM to 3:15PM.
The SCCD is applying for pesticide, nutrient management, and manure/hauler broker credits from the PA Department of Agriculture.
Presenters will come from PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), agricultural and conservation agencies, Penn State and Penn State Extension. Topics include: agricultural compliance, attracting natural pollinators, improving soil biology and crop productivity will cover crops, and Conservation District and US Department of Agriculture updates. Penn State staff will discuss seed treatments, its use and integrated pest management (IPM), the how’s and why’s of soil testing with SCCD staff, preventing pesticide exposure, differences between adjuvants and surfactants, and managing corn car rots and mycotoxins.
The meeting and lunch are $5 per person. Pay at the door.
