Juniata High School senior runner Logan Strawser ran an amazing race, finishing third in the state at the recent PIAA cross country championships!
And, for the first time ever, the Indian boys made the AA championships as a team, finishing 10th in the state, thanks to excellent performances by Wyatt Stroup (77th), Joey Bomberger (110th), Wesley Ehrisman (127th) and Levi Zeiders placed (193rd). Freshman Ricky Guante placed 207th and Charlie Telfer 243rd . And get this, other than Logan, all of these runners were freshmen or sophomores so the JHS XC future is bright!
Mifflin County senior Conrad “CJ” Coffey closed out his season, placing 216th in the AAA field. “CJ missed qualifying for states last season and was driven to make it this year. He had a great fall of racing and had the chance to experience the state championship,” said Huskies’ head coach Greg Loht. “I couldn’t be prouder of his season or his effort.”
Fellow Husky Adeline Leason competed in the state meet for the second time, the first as a freshman while at Selinsgrove High. Ade came in 150th to close out her high school career, even more impressive when you consider she didn’t even run cross country last year. Huskies’ head coach Neil Breneman said “It’s a major accomplishment for anyone to have the privilege of running with the fastest girls in the state. Do it twice, and it’s an even greater accomplishment.”
Congrats to all of our area runners! We’re proud of all of you!
