The 2nd Annual Read-A-Thon is underway at East Juniata Elementary School, continuing through October 14th! We recently had school principal Clint Mitchell on the Merf Morning Show to tell us all about it.

The school is encouraging students to read and get support from parents, grandparents, friends, family members, or really anyone in their support group that will help cheer them on to become better readers.

Wake up with the Merf Morning Show, weekdays 5-10. Streaming at MerfRadio.com

During the Read-A-Thon, students are rewarded for meeting goals and also provide a little competition amongst our classrooms. The Read-A-Thon also helps in getting the community involved in the importance of becoming better readers.

The Read-A-Thon serves as a fundraiser that supports EJES student activity account. All funds earned through the program will be used for special rewards to acknowledge students at EJES and support students who are following R.O.A.R behaviors. This stands for Respect, Owning Behavior, Acting Responsibly, and Ready to Learn. This year, the theme of the school-wide behavior program is to show kindness and our young tigers are off to a great start in being kind to one another.
