Marissa Woodward of Honey Grove, Juniata County swept Supreme Champion and Youth Showmanship Champion at the 2022 PA Farm Show Youth Poultry Show. She will advance to the Youth Master Showmanship competition on Saturday January 15, to compete against Youth Showmanship winners from other species competitions throughout the week.

A winner from each class of large and bantam birds advances to the winner’s circle. From this elite group, the Supreme Champion and Reserve are selected:

  • Marissa Woodward of Honey Grove, Juniata County won Supreme Champion and Grand Champion Large Chicken.
  • Emmye Shuman of Spring Grove, York County won Reserve Champion with her Grand Champion Bantam.

In the showmanship contest, exhibitors are judged on their breed knowledge and their handling and management skills.

  • Marissa Woodward of Honey Grove, Juniata County won Overall Champion in Poultry Youth Showmanship
  • Alyssa Dreucci of Butler, Butler County won Reserve Overall Champion.

Beyond physical cleanliness and presentation, birds must exhibit proper breed character and be the right size and weight for their breed. Before the show, exhibitors spend time working with their birds at home so they are calm while being held in front of the judge.

Marissa will compete later in the week for Master Showmanship and for Rodeo Queen.
