veterans Day is an opportunity to not only honor those who have served or are serving in the military, but also to celebrate community. And that’s just what Geisinger and the Mifflin County School District are doing together — celebrating our veteran community.

In recognition of Veterans Day and to say, “Thank you for your service,” Geisinger will host appreciation dinners for veterans at nine locations across the system on Nov. 10.

Veterans who signed up to enjoy a dinner in the Western Region will get an added treat — a greeting card from Strodes Mills Elementary School students. The cards were created by students in Ms. Elsesser’s art class and creatively express thanks to our veterans.

“I’m so proud to see MCSD students involved with such a worthy community service project,” said Mr. Vance Varner, school district superintendent.

November is National Veterans and Military Families Month, and Nov. 11 is Veterans Day. It’s a time to celebrate and honor the brave men and women who have sacrificed greatly to serve our country.

Thank you to our friends and neighbors from Strodes Mills Elementary School for your beautiful and cheerful artwork that our veterans will enjoy.

Locally, dinner is taking place at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital from 3 to 5 p.m. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the meals will be served via a drive-through arrangement for the safety of the community, staff and volunteers.
