For the second time since 2018 the Mifflin County High School Marching Band is the Tournament of Bands Group 3-A Class Atlantic Coast Champions!  The band finished in 1st place and earned the title Sunday night at Central Dauphin’s Landis Field in Harrisburg.  The band also won the Specialty Awards for Best Music, Best Visual, Best Drum Line and Best Guard.  The score of 93.75 is the highest score a Mifflin County band has ever earned and the highest score of any TOB Group 3-A Class band this year.  Band Director Art Belfiore said, “I have been impressed with the band all season long.  They have had setbacks all fall and have always come back from adversity stronger.  They really proved they are Champions tonight.”

Senior snare drummer Katie Rupert said, “I am glad my last year in the band ended so well.  I am so proud of everyone in the band for what we accomplished this year.” Seniors Allison Snyder and Jenalee Smith agreed, “it is the best feeling and there is no way to describe it with words.”

Kaitlyn LeFevre, Junior Guard member and soloist, said, “As soon as we ended our performance I started to cry because I had a perfect show”.  Another 11th grade Guard member and soloist, Olivia Niman said, “the feeling was truly indescribable, and I am glad I have gotten to experience this with my brother over the last four years.”

Another special event during the evening was when Danny Garner was awarded a TOB Senior Scholarship of $1500.  Each year TOB gives out over $30,000 in scholarship money to Seniors who apply and Garner is the fourth MCHS Marching Band member to win the award.

When the band returned to Lewistown they were met at Mifflin County Middle School for a victory parade through town lead by numerous fire trucks representing fire companies from all over Mifflin County.  Belfiore said the community response was “awesome” and was the perfect ending to a great day.
