Well, here we are. Another MLB postseason is on the way and, for the 10th straight season, the Philadelphia Phillies will not be participating. Atlanta clinched the NL East last night with a 5-3 victory over the Phils. Also yesterday, the Chicago Cubs hammered the Pirates, 9-0. The Bucs will finish out the season at home against Cincinnati, while the Phils are in Miami today through Sunday.
East Juniata scored a 3-0 boys soccer win over Millersburg. Greenwood blanked Juniata’s boys by the same score, 3-0, while Palmyra downed the Mifflin County girls, 5-1. In area volleyball, Juniata defeated East Juniata in straight sets, 3-0, while in field hockey, Southern Columbia scored a 2-1 win over EJ. In tennis, Central Dauphin took care of Mifflin County, 6-0.
Also yesterday, Mifflin County’s Reagan Shafranich finished tied for 11th place at the District VI girl’s golf championships, carding a 125 on the day.
And Cincinnati rallied from a 14-0 halftime deficit to beat Jacksonville with a last-second field goal, 24-21.
