The Phillies are in trouble. Atlanta’s magic number to clinch the NL East is down to three games with last night’s 2-1 victory over Philadelphia. The Fightin’s need to win the division to make the postseason, as St. Louis won its 17th straight game last night to clinch the final National League wild card.
The long since eliminated Pirates, meanwhile, beat the visiting Chicago Cubs last night, 8-6.
Juniata’s boys soccer team edged Susquenita yesterday, 2-1. Elsewhere, the East Juniata and Millersburg girls tied at one with Cypress Feltman scoring the Tiger’s goal and Grace Hibbs adding 15 saves. The East Juniata boys, meanwhile, played Halifax to a 2-2 draw.
In area field hockey, Hailee Sheetz did all the scoring for Mifflin County in a 3-2 win over Lewisburg, while Line Mountain defeated East Juniata, 8-0.
And Mifflin County’s Kylee Cubbison was the overall winner, despite the Huskies’ team losses to Cumberland Valley and Carlisle. Teammate Addie Parson was third overall. The Husky boys also lost to Carlisle and Cumberland Valley.
