Mifflin County came out of yesterday’s Mid Penn golf championships with a pair of golfers finishing in the Top 20. Owen Wise led the Huskies, carding an 82 and finishing 15th, while teammate Bradyn Eversole shot an 86, good enough for 20th place. The Huskies were seventh in the team standings, highest from the Keystone Division.
Mifflin County got two goals each from Aubrey Strohecker and Brynn Knepp but it was Kate Bickhart who scored the eventual game-winner in the Huskies’ 5-4 soccer win in Mechanicsburg. Elsewhere yesterday, Juniata’s boys tied Millersburg, 2-2, and Mechanicsburg blanked the Mifflin County boys, 4-0.
In area volleyball, West Perry defeated Juniata, 3-1, and East Juniata dropped a five-set decision to St. Joseph’s.
It was a rough night for the Eagles. Philadelphia was pounded on national TV, losing in Dallas last night, 41-21. Cowboys’ QB Dak Prescott was efficient, going 21-of-26 for 238 yards and three touchdowns. Philly counterpart Jalen Hurts was 25-for-39, tossing for 326 yards and a pair of scores.
Today’s the first of three for the Phillies in Atlanta, a series that could make or break the Fightin’s playoff hopes. The Braves are 2.5 games up heading in. Zack Wheeler takes the ball for the Phillies while Charlie Morton gets the call for the home team.
Yesterday, Cincinnati hammered the Pirates in a makeup game, 13-1. Today, the Bucs are back home to take on the Chicago Cubs.
