Atlanta’s lead in the NL East is down to two games on the Phillies. The Fightin’s beat the Pirates yesterday, 12-6, while the Braves lost to Arizona, 6-4. The Phils continue with the Bucs the rest of the weekend, while Atlanta plays three games in San Diego.
Mifflin County’s Owen Wise just missed qualifying for next week’s District VI championships after finishing just outside the top ten in yesterday’s sectional golf tournament in Altoona. Mifflin County was fifth of the six teams that competed.
Sixth-ranked Penn State hosts Villanova tomorrow at noon. The Wildcats have beaten the Lions the last three times the teams have played. Of course the last time they met was in 1951. Both teams are 3-0 this year.
And Carolina improved to a surprising 3-0 in the NFL, beating Houston last night, 24-9. On Sunday, the Steelers host Cincinnati while the Eagles are in Dallas on Monday night.
