The Juniata River is expected to crest above the initial estimate after heavy rainfall this week. The river was initially expected to crest above 11 feet today. Flood stage in Lewistown is 23 feet. Mifflin County received significantly more rain than was predicted by the National Weather Service. Some locations in Armagh, Brown, Derry and Decatur Townships reportedly received in excess of 5 to 6 inches of rain. The already saturated ground has caused significant storm water runoff in many areas.
A Three Springs woman was transported to Penn Highlands Huntingdon after her vehicle struck a residence in Huntingdon County. The accident happened Tuesday just before 11:00 pm on Hudson Street in Three Springs Borough. According to State Police, 46-year-old Dana Winters was the operator of a Subaru Outback that failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle crossed the center line and went off the roadway striking the porch and side of a residence. Winters sustained serious injuries.
The fifth annual Reedsville Apple festival is tomorrow. There will be an apple butter boil, apple dumplings and cider, a food court, activities for kids, and more. The festival is Saturday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at Bender Park in Reedsville.
