Juniata’s volleyball team beat Sugar Valley in straight sets, thanks in part to 16 kills from Mackenzie Bennett. Alexea Frontz added 15 digs while Adrianna King tacked on 15 assists. East Juniata, meanwhile, lost a tough one in four sets to Northern Dauphin. Kylie Jewell had 10 digs and a pair of aces for the Tigers in defeat. In area soccer, Lower Dauphin shut out Mifflin County, 8-0.
With a big three-game series looming next week against first place Atlanta, the Phillies remain three games in back of the Braves in the NL East, thanks to last night’s 4-3 win over Baltimore. Atlanta beat Arizona, 9-2.
The Phillies welcome in the Pirates, who were rained out with Cincinnati yesterday, for the first of four today, while Atlanta finishes up with the D-Backs before playing host to San Diego.
And tonight’s high school football game between Mifflin County and Bishop McDevitt has been pushed back a day due to the forecasted weather. Tomorrow night’s Huntingdon and Tyrone game, meanwhile, has been postponed indefinitely due to a COVID-19 issue.
