Mifflin County’s golf team went 5-1 yesterday, losing only to Mechanicsburg, to finish the regular season at 41-5. Owen Wise shot a 72 to lead the Huskies, whose 38-4 conference record was good enough for second place in the Mid Penn’s Keystone Division.

The Juniata boys made easy work of Line Mountain yesterday, winning 14-0. Jelvin Cardenas led the Indians with four goals. Will Saner and Henry Rivas had three goals each. Juniata’s defense kept Line Mountain from getting off a single shot on goal all day. Elsewhere, Jake Brackbill and Cy Fronk scored to lead East Juniata’s boys beat Susquenita, 2-1.

Also yesterday, all in straight sets, State College blanked Mifflin County’s volleyball team, Fannett-Metal beat Juniata and Millersburg knocked off East Juniata. And, in field hockey, Susquenita took down EJ, 6-0.

The Phillies playoff hopes took another hit yesterday, as Philadelphia lost to Baltimore who, along with Arizona, has the worst record in the major leagues. The Fightin’s 2-0 loss, combined with Atlanta’s 11-4 win over the Diamondbacks, leaves the Phils three back with 12 to play.

The Pirates led 5-0 after two and a half but Cincinnati scored nine unanswered runs for a 9-5 victory over the Bucs.

And, in the NFL’s Week Two finale, Green Bay crushed Detroit, 35-17.
