Work to replace a railroad crossing on South Juniata Street (State Route 3006) in Lewistown will soon begin. The crossing is at the South Juniata Street – Water Street intersection. PennDOT says the work will require a closure of Water Street and will impact travel in the area. Work is scheduled to begin on Thursday, September 23rd and is expected to last through Wednesday, September 29th. Drivers are advised that the crossing work and the Water Street closure will be in place during the weekend of September 24th and 25th. No detour will be in place but drivers could encounter roadway flaggers, lane shifts, and 10-foot width restrictions during daylight hours.
A 31-ton weight limit is being posted on the Huntingdon Furnace Road (Route 4013) bridge over Gensimore Run in Warriors Mark Township, Huntingdon County. The bridge carries approximately 400 vehicles per day. The restriction is being implemented in the interest of safety and will be effective once the signs are posted.
Mifflin County Regional Police charged an area woman on several counts after an incident last Wednesday. Police say 41-year-old Ashley High of Milroy was charged with driving in the wrong direction on Route 322 in Brown Township. Officers were able to stop High’s vehicle near the interchange with Route 655 in Reedsville. Further investigation revealed that High was under the influence of an unknown substance. Officers placed her under arrest for suspicion of DUI and transported her to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital for a chemical blood test.
