Today is the 24th annual United Way of Mifflin-Juniata’s Day of Caring. The event kicks off the United Way’s campaign on the third Wednesday of September each year. Area businesses and organizations interact and perform community service projects at local charities and nonprofits.
The Mifflin County Regional Police Department completed four hundred, twenty-two (422) incident reports for the month of August. Of those reports, Regional Officers investigated twenty (20) incidents of burglary or fraud, two (2) assaults and twenty-eight (28) motor vehicle accidents. Regional Police issued eighty-five (85) traffic citations and eight (8) non-traffic citations. Regional Officers also made two (2) arrests for driving while under the influence.
Wreaths Across America Radio will host the third in a series of four roundtable discussions focused on Veteran Healing on Thursday, September 23rd at 7:00 pm. Thelive discussion will include veterans sharing stories of resilience, purpose, and success. It can be heard exclusively on Wreaths Across America Radio. The discussion will focus on women in service, highlighting the contributions to national security by military women throughout our history. The discussion will also touch on barriers that exist, along with issues that are unique to women veterans.
A Lewistown woman was arrested for endangering the welfare of children. Borough Police responded to 129 South Main Street on September 7th for a report of an intoxicated female. Police discovered Keisha Vaughn heavily intoxicated while in possession of a newborn child. Vaughn was charged and placed in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility.
