After a year-long postponement due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Penn State’s Ag Progress Days is back with a full schedule of demonstrations, activities and learning for all ages. The expo begins today (August 10th) and continues through Thursday (August 12th) at the Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center at Rock Springs in Centre County. Ag Progress Days is one of the largest agricultural expos in the East, featuring nearly 500 commercial and educational exhibits, crop displays, machinery demonstrations, and other items. The event typically attracts as many as 45,000 visitors from across Pennsylvania and beyond to get a glimpse into the science and business of agriculture.
The Ferguson Township Police Department advises residents and motorists that the West College Avenue (SR26), Pine Grove Road (SR45), and West Whitehall Road areas will be extremely congested especially during rush hour. Motorists are asked to allow extra driving time. The use of alternate routes is suggested. Nixon Road will be closed between West Whitehall Road and Pine Grove Road between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm daily.
A Snyder County man was the victim of another gift card scam. According to State Police at Selinsgrove, a Mount Pleasant Mills man was contacted on Instagram by an unknown individual claiming to be singer Carrie Underwood. The victim was instructed to purchase gift cards for the individual. He sent gift cards totaling more than $7,188 to the caller for several months before contacting authorities. The case is still under investigation.
PennDOT is seeking input from motorists on traffic safety and driving behaviors through its annual online Highway Safety Survey. The survey is available on PennDOT’s website through August 23rd and should take about five minutes to complete. All responses, including the “comments” fields, are anonymous. Nearly 8,000 people responded to last year’s survey. The survey can be found at www.PennDOT.gov/Safety.
