A Petersburg teen was transported for injuries after his motorcycle struck a deer Thursday morning in Huntingdon County. The accident happened just before 8:30 am on Standing Stone Road in Miller Township. State Police say 19-year-old Adam Campbell was the driver of a Suzuki Boulevard involved in the mishap.

A Centre County woman has been sentenced for mail theft. According to the U. S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, 27-year-old Jessica Stover of Millheim was sentenced to one year of probation, and was ordered to pay $350 in restitution and a $300 fine. Stover entered a guilty plea in March after admitting to opening greeting cards and other mail at a Post Office sorting facility for mail destined for students at Penn State University.

The Pennsylvania House State Government Committee wants to hear from Commonwealth residents as it prepares to take its congressional redistricting hearings on the road. Committee Chairman, Representative Seth Grove (R-York), said “Receiving input from residents is vital to ensuring the congressional redistricting process is as transparent as possible.” The hearings started in Harrisburg in July and will continue on August 24th. Residents wanting to provide in-person testimony can sign up at www.PaRedistricting.com. The website also offers online tools to comment on the current congressional district map. Information collected through the U.S. Census every 10 years determines the number of Representatives in each state based on population.

A previously deported alien has been sentenced after illegally re-entering the United States. The Justice Department says 35-year-old Pablo Ramirez-Hernandez was sentenced to 12 months and one day of in prison followed by one-year of supervised release. Ramirez-Hernandez was sentenced in Harrisburg on July 30th in U. S. District Court for illegal re-entry of a previously deported alien. Ramirez-Hernandez previously pleaded guilty to having illegally reentered the United States sometime after his last removal in August 2009 after eluding immigration officers.
