Five members of the Shippensburg University men’s track & field team, including Mifflin County alum Chayce Macknair, were recognized recently as 2021 All-Academic Athletes by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

 To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete status, individuals must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and satisfied a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships during the outdoor or indoor season.

 Macknair, a history major seeking social studies teaching certification, maintains a 4.0 cumulative GPA. He is the 2021 PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Champion in the 10,000 meters (10K) and the conference runner-up in the 5,000 meters (5K). His season best in the 5K of 14:30.55 was achieved at the Paul Kaiser Classic.
