The Statistical Report for June has been released by State Police at Lewistown. Troopers responded to 765 incidents last month, making 62 criminal arrests in Mifflin and Juniata Counties. There were a total of 61 vehicle crashes investigated by State Police in the two-county region. Two people died as a result of vehicle accidents, one each in Mifflin and Juniata Counties.
The remains of a man missing since last year have been found in Huntingdon County. According to State Police, the remains of 46-year-old Steven Brode were discovered in a wooded area in Carbon Township. Police did not disclose the date of the discovery. Brode of New Paris was reported missing May 2nd, 2020 when his vehicle was located on Book Road in Wood Township. Cause of death is undetermined, but presumed to be from natural causes.
Geisinger continues to offer walk-in and by-appointment COVID-19 vaccine events this week. Walk-in COVID-19 vaccinations will be available today (July 7th) at the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital Vaccine Center on Highland Avenue Extended from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.
