A day after they got an outstanding effort from Vince Velazquez, Aaron Nola stunk up the joint for the Phillies, allowing seven earned over four and two-thirds. He still somehow managed to strike out 11 Miami hitters. Marlins win it though, 11-6. Bryce Harper homered twice for the Fightin’s.

The Pirates finally scored for the first time this week. They still lost but at least they scored. Rockies over the Bucs, 6-2.

Mahoning Valley’s seven-run seventh doomed State College. Scrappers over the Spikes, 10-2. Harrisburg  and Somerset, meanwhile, were rained out while Altoona and Hartford were suspended in the second due to the weather.

Speaking of the Curve, a pair of their pitchers have been named to the AA Futures Game: Pirates’ prospects Roansy Contreras and Quinn Priester. Harrisburg reliever Cade Cavalli also earned a berth on the roster, as did Phillies’ prospect Bryson Stott, who plays for Reading right now.

And Tampa Bay beat Montreal, 3-1, to take a two games to none lead in the first to four NHL Stanley Cup finals. In the NBA, Phoenix knocked off the Los Angeles Clippers in Game Six of their Western Conference final to advance to the title round. They’ll take on Atlanta or Milwaukee.
