It was a pretty successful weekend for the Juniata Valley Striders Youth Running Club. Camryn Treaster ran to a first place finish in the 11-and12 year-old 400. Zach Wheeler tossed seven scoreless innings to lead the Phillies past the New York Mets, 4-2. The Pirates, meanwhile, called up Max Kranick for his Major League debut. The 23-year-old threw a perfect five innings, not allowing a hit or walk while striking out three in the Buc’s 7-2 win over St. Louis.

State College won a minor league game, 3-2, over Williamsport, while, elsewhere, Harrisburg easily defeated Altoona, 11-2.

Kyle Busch won NASCAR’s Sprint Cup race, while Harris English won a record-setting eight-hole sudden death playoff with Kramer Hickok to take the PGA’s Travelers Championship.
