Las Vegas defensive end Carl Nassib, a third round pick of the Cleveland Browns in the 2016 draft, yesterday came out as the first active NFL player to come out as gay. Making the announcement via Instagram from his home in West Chester, Nassib also announced he was donating $100,000 to the Trevor Project, which provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to the LGBTQ community. In a statement, Penn State head coach James Franklin expressed his pride in Nassib and said he and his wife are donating $10,000 to The Trevor Project.
And, after scheduled days off, the Phillies and Pirates get back to work today. The Bucs host the Chicago White Sox while the Fightin’s welcome in Washington.
