Mifflin County’s softball team has earned a berth in the state tournament, thanks to yesterday’s 10-2 win over Erie McDowell. The Huskies’ baseball team plays McDowell today in a state play-in game after beating State College, 4-3, in yesterday’s District VI 6A championship game.

Southern Huntingdon’s boys defeated Mount Union for the D6 AA title, 3-2. The Rockets are into the state playoffs while the Trojans take on Kane this afternoon in a PIAA play-in game.

Yesterday, Wyalusing beat East Juniata in the D4 softball semifinals, 11-1.

In the big leagues, the Phillies offense exploded in a 17-3 win over Cincinnati. Kansas City doubled up the Pirates, 10-5.

Down on the farm, State College beat Frederick, 3-1. Altoona topped Richmond, 4-1, and Portland edged Harrisburg, 2-1.

And Sixers’ superstar Joel Embiid is doubtful with a knee injury for tonight’s Game Five in Philly’s first round NBA playoff series with Washington. The 76er’s  lead the first-to-four, three games to one.
