Mifflin County Softball beat State College 8-2 for the District Championship.

The Pittsburgh Penguins were eliminated with a 5-3 loss to the New York Islanders in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup First Round.  It was the first series-clinching win for the Islanders at Nassau Coliseum in 28 years.

Brendt Citta extended his hitting streak to a season-high seven games for the Altoona Curve as he blasted four hits to lead Altoona past Erie, 3-2.

The Harrisburg Senators followed their best offensive output of the season, falling to the Bowie Baysox in a 4-0 rain-shortened game.

Tyler Heckert launched a solo shot to left field in the eighth inning but the Mahoning Valley Scrappers’ three-run third helped propel their 5-2 win over the State College Spikes.
