Juniata’s tennis team has won the District VI championship, beating Westmont, 5-0. Adam French lost just one game at #2 singles, winning 6-1, 6-0.
Juniata and EJ competed at yesterday’s TVL track and field championships. The Tiger boys placed third, with Juniata fourth. The Juniata girls were fourth, East Juniata fifth. Greenwood won both the boys and girls titles. Winning individual championships for the Tigers were Rowan Smith in the 110 and 300 hurdles and Logan Strawser in the 1,600 and 3,200. From Juniata, Ashlyn Pannebaker won twice, taking the 100 and 200. Tyson Aurand won the pole vault.
Juniata’s Elizabeth Gaisor threw a no-hitter as the Indians knocked off Muncy, 5-3. Elsewhere, East Juniata lost to Millersburg, 12-2.
The NFL released its 2021 schedule last evening. The Steelers open at Buffalo, playing at home for the first time in Week 2 against Las Vegas. Other highlights include a Week 4 matchup at Green Bay and Week 16 at Kansas City.
The Eagles, meanwhile, are on the road, in Atlanta, in Week 1. The team returns to Philadelphia for its home opener in Week 2, against San Francisco. The Eagles play both the two teams that played in February’s Super Bowl within a three-week span: Kansas City in Week 4 and Tampa Bay in Week 6.
The Phillies scored three times in the top of the 10th to beat Washington, 5-2, last night. Cincinnati beat the Pirates, also in 10, 5-1.
And, down on the farm, Altoona took care of Binghamton, 7-2, while Richmond beat Harrisburg, 4-1.
