A Carlisle man was killed Friday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash in Perry County. State Police say 44-year-old Peter Samuels was the driver of an Audi A5 Friday afternoon on Montour Road in Tyrone Township. Samuels’ vehicle passed two vehicles in a no passing zone before re-entering the right lane. The Audi left the roadway and struck a tree. Samuels was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Senator Judy Ward (R-30) has joined a bipartisan group of 21 state Senators appealing for the removal of COVID-related restrictions on employers before the start of the Memorial Day weekend. In the letter, the Senators indicated they were appreciative of the recent announcement by the Wolf Administration that restrictions put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic will be lifted on Memorial Day. The letter urged the governor to allow the employers to have a full Memorial Day weekend to begin to recoup the losses they suffered during the pandemic.

Roadwork begins today (May 10th) in Miller Township, Huntingdon County. PennDOT says work will begin on Route 26 to stabilize the Jacksons Corner slide area. Work will take place under daylight flagging operations. Motorists should expect some delays, and are advised to use caution driving through the area. Be alert for workers and obey all posted work zone guidance. All work is expected to be completed by mid-August.
