Mifflin County alum Chayce Macknair won the 10k for Shippensburg University at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference track & field championships.

This afternoon, Greenwood alum Paityn Wirth and the North Carolina field hockey team play Iowa in the NCAA semifinals. Michigan and Louisville meet in the other semi.

Millersburg’s softball team won a pitcher’s duel with Juniata, nipping the Indians yesterday, 1-0. The Juniata baseball team, meanwhile, picked up a 7-6 win over Millersburg. East Juniata’s boys held on to beat Greenwood, 5-3.

The Phillies shut out Milwaukee, 2-0. The Fightin’s are off to Atlanta this weekend. The Pirates, who had yesterday off, are in Chicago to play the Cubs.

In the minors, Harrisburg earned its first win of the season, defeating Somerset, 5-2, and Bowie beat the Curve, 8-4. Altoona is off to an 0-3 start.

A day after its doubles team of Max Lauver and Adam French won a district title, Juniata went out and beat Huntingdon, 5-2, in a team match.

Jeff Carter scored four goals as the Penguins doubled up Buffalo, 8-4.
