It will be an all-Juniata district doubles final today, when Max Lauver and Adam French take on Gavin Kint and Jack Strawser in the D6 AA finals. Both Indians’ doubles teams won quarterfinal and semifinal matches yesterday to advance.
Upper Dauphin’s softball team turned a three-run deficit into a 4-3 walk-off win against Juniata yesterday. Newport, meanwhile, exploded for nine runs in the sixth, going on to beat East Juniata’s boys, 10-0.
East Juniata’s track and field teams battled Hollidaysburg and Bellefonte in a double-dual yesterday. The Tigers had a few individual winners, led by three-time winner Rowan Smith, who won the high jump, 110-hurdles and 300-hurdles for the Tigers.
The Phillies scored five in the third and then held on to beat Milwaukee yesterday, 6-5. The Pirates, meanwhile, nipped San Diego, 2-1.
A day after getting beat 7-2 by the Flyers, the Penguins returned the favor, beating Philadelphia last evening, 7-3.
And opening night didn’t quite go as planned for Harrisburg, as Somerset shut out the Senators, 6-0. Also yesterday, Bowie beat the Altoona Curve, 2-1.
