Mifflin County High School is closed for the remainder of the week due to COVID-19. The Pennsylvania Department of Health recommended the closing due to new cases emerging in the school. Since April 10th, Mifflin County High School has had 23 students test positive for COVID-19. Currently, there are 133 students in quarantine. The school will be closed today (May 5th) through Sunday (May 9th). All events through Sunday (have been cancelled. Officials plan to have the school open for in-person instruction on Monday (May 10th).
The Pennsylvania Department of Aging has announced that its PACE prescription assistance program, working together with Walmart, has helped more than 25,000 older Pennsylvanians get a vaccination appointment. The PACE/Walmart Vaccine Partnership over the past seven weeks has resulted in 77 clinics in 11 counties, with the PACE Call Center making more than 25,000 appointments for individuals. As part of the federal pharmacy partnership, Walmart reached out to the Department of Aging for help with getting vaccine into the arms of the most vulnerable older adults. Clinics were conducted at community sites in eleven counties, including Centre and York . Walmart has administered about 400 vaccines to older adults per day at each site.
Authorities say someone removed several mowers from a residence in Huntingdon County. According to State Police, the theft occurred sometime between December and early May on School Street in Dudley. A red Wheel Horse riding mower, a silver Honda push mower, a red Gravely Briggs & Stratton push mower, and a red Gravely wagon were taken. Stolen items were valued at $760.
