Let’s hear it for the moms! As we honor all the moms out there this Mother’s Day, we’re taking a look at this special mother-son duo from Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

Lisa Wilson is the secretary at the GLH School of Nursing.

She brought her two children into this world, nurtured them through their earliest years. She packed their lunch on the first day of school, hung on for dear life as they learned to drive and went above and beyond racing them to and from school events and activities. 

Now here they are, 10 years later, Lisa and her son Matthew, spending nearly every day together commuting to and from work.

Matthew is a member of the Supply Chain Services team at GLH. “I’ll hit the 4-year mark in June,” he said. Lisa will be with Geisinger for 20 years in October.  

“When Matthew told me that he had received a call for an interview here I was happy for him, but I knew he had to do this on his own,” Lisa explained. “Most people did not know we were related until after he was hired, and they would see us talking and would hear him call me mom.”

“I get a lot of compliments about him. I enjoy seeing him around the hospital,” Lisa said with a big smile.

Matthew shared, “She helps me through difficult times and is there for me when I need her.”

The Wilsons are proud to work for Geisinger. “Geisinger Lewistown Hospital is a good place to work and has a lot of community support behind it and the school. Geisinger has done a lot to improve the hospital and has brought new technology to our community and to our nursing program.”​​​​​​​
