A Lewistown Elementary School student was transported to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital for evaluation after an incident on a school van Thursday morning. A Mifflin County van driver accidentally hit the handle on a fire extinguisher located inside the vehicle. The extinguisher partially emptied throughout the van. EMS personnel responded to the scene as a precaution.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) recently began its 2021 Black Fly Suppression Program. The program involves aerial and backpack spraying on roughly 1,700 stream miles in 35 counties of the Commonwealth. Prior to any spraying activity, DEP notifies county and local emergency management officials.

Mifflin County Kid Connection is back, after a break during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Kid Connection is being held virtually this year, through Facebook and Eventbrite! The special event will feature local entertainment, music, magic acts, crafts and much more for all ages on Saturday (April 24th), beginning at 9:00 am.

Juniata County residents can properly dispose of their unwanted electronics during Electronics Collection Day on Saturday in Port Royal. The Juniata County Conservation District secures the services of Responsible Recycling Services (RRS) of Kutztown, using state reimbursements received for the county’s annual recycling performance. Their mission is to reduce landfill waste and protect natural resources. Electronics Collection Day is Saturday (April 24th) at the Juniata County Fairgrounds in Port Royal. The event is from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, or until trucks are full. Participants must stay in their car and wear a mask. Pre-registration is required. Call 717-436-8953, ext. 5 to register. A new drive-in movie theater opens this weekend in Huntingdon County. The Clifton 5 will open a new drive-in later today on Firemans Park Lane in Mill Creek. The new site can hold up to 200 cars. Opening weekend features include Godzilla Vs. King Kong, and Wonder Woman 1984. The Clifton 5 partnered with the Mill Creek Volunteer Fire Company to open the drive-in. Gates open at 6:00 pm.
