Blown leads were the story of the day yesterday. Mifflin County blew a six-run lead but ended up winning anyway when Colby Bodtorf delivered an RBI walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh. Huskies over Chambersburg, 13-12.
The Mifflin County girls, meanwhile, had a five-run lead against Chambersburg but lost, 8-7.
A six-run eighth turned a two-run deficit into a four-run lead for San Francisco last night. The Phillies scored one time in the ninth but still came up short in a 10-7 loss to the Giants. The Pirates game in Detroit, by the way, was postponed.
The East Juniata boys track and field team scored a 92-49 win over Millersburg. Jake Brackbill won the javelin, shot and discus for the Tigers. In the girls meet, it was Millersburg over EJ, 107-32.
Mifflin County’s boys meanwhile got a pair of distance wins from Brayden Harris and a new sophomore school record in the javelin from Josiah Sechler but still lost as a team to Cumberland Valley, 95-55.
Juniata won another tennis match, improving to 9-1 on the year. This time it was a 5-0 win over Tussey Mountain.
And Mifflin County High School alum Skylar Ciccolini, who broke the University of Missouri school record in the javelin on Friday, has been SEC Women’s Freshman of the Week. Read more about the honor here.
