The East Juniata baseball team moved back above .500, improving to 3-2, with yesterday’s 1-0 win over Greenwood. Also yesterday, Millersburg beat Juniata, 5-3. Millersburg also defeated the Indians’ softball team, 8-1.

The Phillies got off to a 5-1 start. Since then, they’ve gone 1-5, losing their third straight to the New York Mets, 5-1. Same score as the Pirates beat San Diego, 5-1.

Former Mifflin County softball player Emily Bingman had a big day in Rosemont’s doubleheader sweep of Clarks Summit. Bingman was 5-for-7, with four RBI, a pair of runs scored, a double and a steal. Former Husky and current Rosemont teammate Analisa Yoder, meanwhile, added a pair of hits, including a double. She also stole a base and scored two runs.

Greenwood defeated the East Juniata boys track & field team, 95-60. Rowan Smith did manage a pair of individual wins for the Tigers, taking both hurdles races.  On the girl’s side, Greenwood beat EJ, 129-16.

Former Mifflin County star Chayce Macknair, meanwhile, won the 1500 for Shippensburg University at the Midweek Collegiate Invitational. Former Juniata and current Bloomsburg star Sydney Sheaffer tied her career- best in the high jump, finishing second overall at the Shippensburg Mid-Week Meet.

Juniata’s tennis team shut out Muncy, 5-0. Adam French scored a 6-0, 6-3 win at number one singles.

Former Mifflin County state champ Hayden Hidlay, a four-time ACC champion at 157 pounds, is also now a four-time All-ACC Academic Team member.

And Joel Embiid scored a game-high 39 points as the Sixers beat Brooklyn to take over sole possession of first place in the East. To be fair, the Nets were playing with Kevin Durant. Philly 123, Brooklyn 117.
