Mifflin County Kid Connection, a pivotal part of spring in Lewistown, is back this year after a hiatus from the Covid-19 Pandemic, but with a different plan. Kid Connection will occur online from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday April 24, 2021. A special entertainment schedule will be posted throughout the five hours on Facebook and Eventbrite. Local families are encouraged to sign on to see free videos featuring music, crafts, magic acts, science experiments, and more geared toward children ages 2 to 12 years old.
In an effort to help businesses and agencies distribute their information to young families, there will be a limited-edition keepsake tote bag given to the first 300 children to register. Registration begins on Eventbrite starting March 29, 2021. Only one bag per child and registration will cut off at 300 bags. Goodie bag pick-up will be held at the Sweet Frogs’ parking lot on April 24th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., there is no rain date or additional time to pick up these bags. If you know you cannot make the pick-up time please do not register. Confirmation from Eventbrite for registration must be present at pick-up to retrieve the bag. Click here to register.
Organizers are seeking donations from local businesses and organizations to provide items for the goodie bags. Promotional materials like brochures and flyers are welcome but must accompany an item or activity for kids. Examples are tattoos, stickers, coloring bags, kits to make crafts, and games. Promotional items like pencils, tablets, etc. are also welcome. Please message organizers via the Facebook page or email mckidconnection34@gmail.com.
“We will miss the sound of kids playing on Market Street again this year,” says event coordinator, Casey Goss, “but we did not feel comfortable hosting an in-person event this spring. We hope the community will make the most of the changes we’ve made and know that we are looking forward to the return of the traditional Kid Connection in 2022.”
Additional information can be found on the Mifflin County Kid Connection Facebook page, by emailing mckidconnection34@gmail.com or cassandra.goss0812@gmail.com or by calling Cassandra Goss at 717-953-2569.
