Pennsylvania House Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) said Pennsylvania should not follow states like New York in adopting so-called “vaccine passports.”  The passports provide proof that holders have received the COVID-19 vaccine or recently tested negative for the virus.  Benninghoff said “Every Pennsylvanian who wants the COVID-19 vaccine shot should have the opportunity to get one, and lawmakers are working hard to make sure that happens sooner rather than later.”  The Speaker said “The idea of so-called vaccine passports is an opening to unfathomable government intrusion into people’s personal lives.   The swift deployment of the COVID-19 vaccine is necessary for a return to normal, but that normal cannot include government-sanctioned monitoring of an individual’s health, and the unfair selection of those who can return to normal and those who cannot.”

A local man sustained minor injuries after his vehicle struck a deer in Mifflin County earlier this week.  According to State Police, 29-year-old Cody Tallon of Reedsville was the driver of a Ford Fiesta early Tuesday morning on Route 522 North in Decatur Township.  Tallon’s vehicle could not stop in time, and struck a deer that had run onto the roadway.  The deer was killed as a result of the accident.
